Precious Stones Prospecting Permit - South Australia

Description

You will need this permit to prospect for opals and other precious stones, such as sapphires.

This permit is needed to:

  • register a precious stones claim
  • register an opal development lease.

Both a precious stones claim and an opal development lease grant an exclusive right to conduct mining operations for the recovery of opal or precious stones from the land pegged out. However, they differ in area, accessibility, working and land conditions.

You will need to register a claim or lease separately.
