You will need this licence if you intend to sell liquor you have produced alongside liquor you have not produced. There are three categories which allow licence holders to do different activities.
A class 1 licence allows you to sell liquor:
- you have produced for takeaway from your licensed premises
- by direct sales transactions, such as online or by post
- not produced by you only for the purpose of sampling and comparing to the liquor you produce.
A class 2 licence allows you to sell liquor:
- you have produced for takeaway from your licensed premises
- you have produced for sample or consumption on your licensed premises
- you have produced by direct sales transactions, such as online or by post
- you have not produced to persons attending a function where food is provided, eating a meal while on your premises, or seated at a table.
A class 3 licence allows you to sell liquor:
- you have produced for takeaway from your licensed premises
- you have produced for sample or consumption on your licensed premises
- you have produced by direct sales transactions, such as online or by post
- not produced by you in bulk quantities of 4.5 litres or more, and by wholesale to other liquor merchants.
Your licence may be granted subject to conditions and may be authorised for one of the following licence sub-classes:
- Home office - direct sales transactions only (classes 1 and 3 only)
- Home office - sampling only and consumption off the licensed premises (classes 1,and 3 only)
- Cellar door - sampling only and consumption off the licensed permises (Classes 1 and 3 only)
- Cellar door - consumption on and off the licensed premises (classes 2 and 3 only).
