If you own a property that runs livestock, you will need to register the property for a Property Identification Code (PIC). This registration is mandatory under a national agreement to maintain a register of the locations of livestock and property owner or manager contact details.
All South Australian properties must have a PIC if they have 1 or more:
A PIC is also required if you intend to operate a commercial poultry egg and/or meat production business that is required to have food safety accreditation. Poultry species include:
- guinea fowl
- mutton birds
Only 1 PIC is required per property. Properties that have multiple blocks of land within 100 km only need 1 PIC. Properties that have multiple blocks of land more than 100 km apart of each property must register different PICs.
