Protected Animal Rescue Permit - South Australia

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to rescue protected animals from the wild for the purpose of short term rehabilitation and release. A protected animal includes any species of mammal, bird or reptile which is:

  • native to Australia
  • migratory and occasionally migrates to, and lives in, Australia
  • specified as a protected species in the legislation.

This permit allows you to rescue injured, sick or orphaned animals.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must be able to demonstrate good knowledge and experience in the care and treatment of the species of protected animals listed on the permit for them to recover and be returned to the wild.

Permits are valid for 28 days from the date of issue.
