You need to be registered to practise as a paramedic in Australia. Paramedics provide emergency care to sick or injured people outside a hospital or care facility. The title of paramedic is protected and you must be registered to use it.
You must be registered if you work in a non-clinical paramedic role but you will not need this registration if you are a:
- student
- medic
- volunteer ambulance officer
- emergency medical technician (EMT).
There are four different types of registration offered to practitioners:
- general
- limited
- non-practising
- student.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
