You will need this registration if you intend to participate in the National Electricity Market. Activities that require this registration include:
- owning, controlling or operating a generating system connected to the national electricity system
- owning, controlling or operating a transmission or distribution system forming part of the national electricity system
- purchasing electricity directly through a wholesale exchange.
You must register in one of a variety of participant categories depending on the type of activity you intend to undertake.
