This registration of premises is required wherever unsealed radioactive substances are used, handled or stored in a premises, eg research laboratories and nuclear medicine facilities. Premises must meet specific requirements detailed in the legislation.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
Any person or company that occupies a premises where unsealed radioactive substances are used, handled or stored must register the premises in the name of that person or company.
