Retention Lease - South Australia

Description

You will need this lease to retain your rights to your mineral claim after it has lapsed and before you have been issued a mining lease.

This lease grants security of tenure to conduct further exploratory operations. It is only issued to the holder of a Mineral Claim and may be granted if the mineral is not economically viable or if a radioactive mineral is being sought. This licence is not contained in the business activity module because it is issued to holders of a mineral claim who fall into the above category.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must have a mineral claim and for one of the following to apply:

  • the Authority deemed that it is not economically or otherwise viable for you to immediately proceed to mine the land under your mining tenement
  • sufficient investigation has not been carried out on the mineral claim for the Authority to issue a mining lease
  • you seek to be authorised to mine radioactive minerals and the Authority deems it necessary to defer granting your lease.
