Sardine Fishery Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence to undertake commercial sardine fishing. The area of the fishery includes all South Australian waters out to the 200 nautical mile Australian Exclusive Economic Zone. Licences are transferable and no new licences are available for issue.

Licence holders are authorised to take the following aquatic resources from the specified zones:

  • Australian Anchovy
  • Marat
  • Australian Sardine
  • Blue Sprat
  • Sandy Sprat.

Licence holders are also required to register:

  • any boat or device used under this licence
  • a person as a master of any boat used under this licence.

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • be 15 or older
  • be a fit and proper person.

Duration

Fishery licences are issued for the term of the management plan. The current management plan expires in September 2023.
