South Australian Code of Practice for the Husbandry of Captive Birds - South Australia

Description

You will need to comply with this code if you care for, control or manage captive birds.

The purpose of the code is to reduce the unnecessary and unreasonable pain and suffering of captive birds.

The code sets out standards relating to:

  • food and water
  • housing, caging, and transport containers
  • health, disease, and stress.

The code does not apply to waterfowl, pigeons used for racing, pheasants or poultry used for the commercial production of meat or eggs.
