Special Club Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence to possess and operate approved gaming machines on the casino premises or premises in respect of which another person holds a gaming machine licence.

You will be entitled to possess and operate approved gaming machines:

  • on the casino premises as an agent of the holder of the casino licence
  • on premises in respect of which you are an agent of the holder of a gaming machine licence.

Only one special club licence may be in force at any one time. Currently, the licence is held by a body exclusively in South Australia.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To hold the special club licence, you will need to:

  • represent a substantial number of cubs in South Australia
  • have the relevant skills and expertise to operate gaming machines, and conduct gaming machine business

You will also need to have directors, or members of the board, comprised of:

  • at least 1 person who is a lawyer of at least 3 years standing with experience in the club and gaming industry
  • at least 1 person who is a qualified accountant of at least 3 years standing with experience in the club and gaming industry
  • at least 1 person with experience in dealing with the issues of problem gambling and gambling addiction.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You will need to submit to the agency under the special club licence:

  • contracts or arrangements under which management services are to be provided, officers or employees engaged in senior management positions are to be remunerated or profits are to be shared with other licensees
  • no later than 30 September each year, a report on the conduct of your financial affairs during the financial year (ending 30 June), including reference to distribution of funds among community, sporting and recreational groups.

As specified on the licence or until surrendered or revoked.
