Wastewater Works Approval - City of Mitcham - South Australia

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to undertake wastewater works. Wastewater works include installing, connecting, altering or decommissioning wastewater systems. Wastewater systems comprise:

  • on-site wastewater systems (e.g. septic tanks, greywater or aerobic wastewater systems)
  • community wastewater management systems (CWMS).

The relevant authority for wastewater works approval depends on the capacity of the wastewater system:

  • your local council is the relevant authority for on-site wastewater systems with a capacity up to 40 equivalent persons (EP) or for connection to a CWMS
  • the state government health department is the relevant authority for wastewater systems with a capacity greater than 40 EP, CWMS and for wastewater systems in areas of the state not under local government control.
