You will need this permit if you are the driver of a fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle and you are unable to fill out a work diary.
A fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle is a:
- motor vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of more than 12 tonnes
- combination with a GVM of more than 12 tonnes
- bus that is fitted to carry more than 12 people including the driver.
All drivers of fatigue-regulated heavy vehicles need to fill out a work diary. This exemption may be granted only if you have a literacy or print media impairment that makes using the work diary very difficult. This exemption allows you to nominate an alternate method to record work and rest details. These details are then to be transcribed into a work diary by a nominated person.
You must carry this exemption permit with you when you are driving.
