Marine Aquaculture Lease/Licence - South Australia

Description

This lease/licence is required for the farming of aquatic organisms in State waters for the purpose of trade, business or research.

If the lease/licence proposed is in an existing Aquaculture Zone, applications will only be accepted after an invitation for Expressions of Interest.

In any other State waters, applications may be made at any time. However, applicants should first confirm with the agency the location of the proposal.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the technical, commercial and financial capabilities required to operate the sites selected, as well as ensure, where applicable, the proposed farm meets the policy objectives of the relevant Aquaculture Management Plan Zone Policy.

Duration

Lease - tenure is various: from 1 to 20 years, depending on lease type; Licence is coextensive with Lease.

To apply for a new marine aquaculture site or to move or adjust the boundaries of an existing site write a brief letter outlining your proposal (no more than 2 pages is required) and attach a map and the coordinates of your proposal.
The agency will then send you the relevant application forms.
