Accreditation of a Dairy Producer - Tasmania

Description

You will need this accreditation if you intend to become a dairy producer. Dairy producers may be dairy farmers, dairy processors or dairy manufacturers.

  • Dairy Farmers are operators of premises where cows (or other non-bovine animals such as sheep or goats) are kept or milked for the purpose of producing milk for profit or sale. 
  • Dairy Manufacturers are businesses that take milk and transform it into other products for sale - such as cheese, yoghurt, ice cream, powdered milk, and other dairy products.
  • Dairy Processors are businesses that process milk and cream into packaged cartons and bottles for sale.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this accreditation, you must:

  • prepare and implement a food safety program under the Dairy Food Safety Scheme
  • allow the Chief Inspector to make any inspections of premises, plant or equipment as deemed necessary.
