Approval as a Cemetery Manager - Tasmania

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to manage a cemetery. Cemetery managers are responsible for:

  • the correct handling and burial of human remains
  • providing public access to cemeteries
  • administration and record keeping
  • general maintenance and upkeep of cemeteries.

Approved cemetery managers may:

  • sell a cemetery
  • purchase a cemetery
  • establish a new cemetery
  • close a cemetery.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • be a body corporate
  • ensure the officers of the body corporate are fit and proper persons
  • own or lease the cemetery land
  • have a Cemetery Management Program
  • hold a current National Police Check.
