Approval as a Vehicle Examiner - Tasmania

Description

You will need this approval to be employed as a mechanic who performs vehicle inspections on light and / or heavy vehicles in Tasmania on behalf of the authorising Agency. A separate approval is needed for any mechanic's premises where vehicle inspections are performed.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • have the relevant mechanic's qualifications from an approved training organisation, or the equivalent in competency-based experience
  • have completed an approved course in vehicle inspection
  • hold a current National Police Certificate
  • satisfy the Authorising Agency's registration approval processes, and be prepared to submit to ongoing training and assessments and inspections of you at your workplace
  • be willing to operate as a Vehicle Examiner only at Approved Inspection Stations (AIS)
  • possess insurance if appropriate.
