You may require this approval if you intend to prepare and use an overpack to transport dangerous goods.
Dangerous goods are substances that present an immediate hazard to people, property or the environment which include explosives, gases, flammable liquids and radioactive substances.
Overpack means packaging (other than large packaging) used to hold and consolidate packages of goods into a single unit for easier handling and stowage. For example, a pallet designed to hold packages or a box or crate into which packages are placed.
Please be aware that:
- you will only need this approval if your activity does not comply with the relevant code and the Authority considers that the use of an overpack presents no greater risk than a method complying with the relevant code.
- your approval may be subject to conditions in relation to the use of the overpack necessary for the safe use to transport dangerous goods.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
