  • be at least 18 years old
  • be a natural person
  • be a fit and proper person
  • have a legitimate reason for using, carrying or possessing a crossbow
  • be able to demonstrate secure and safe storage when the weapon is not in use.

Legitimate reasons include:

  • conducting research
  • hunting vermin
  • being a member of a sporting club
  • as part of a collection
  • another purpose the agency considers appropriate.
