To be eligible for authorisation you must:
- be at least 18 years old
- be a natural person
- be a fit and proper person
- have a legitimate reason for using, carrying or possessing a crossbow
- be able to demonstrate secure and safe storage when the weapon is not in use.
Legitimate reasons include:
- conducting research
- hunting vermin
- being a member of a sporting club
- as part of a collection
- another purpose the agency considers appropriate.
