Busking Permit - Tasmania

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to busk or perform other forms of entertainment on a road or in a public place. Busking includes playing a musical instrument, pavement art, singing, conjuring, juggling, mime, mimicry, dancing, puppetry, performance art, recitation and other theatrical or visual activities which attract, or are conducted to attract a donation (and not a set fee).

Please note, as a busker you are not permitted to:

  • perform a political or religious speech
  • obstruct a footpath
  • use any form of sound amplification or electrically amplified instruments
  • wear or display any advertising matter.

You must not perform within 100 metres of a premises after being requested by the occupier to cease, unless you obtain a permit from the Council to continue.

Eligibility requirements

An application for permit is to be in writing and accompanied by:

  • a statement specifying the type of activity proposed
  • a statement detailing the required period of the permit
  • a scaled drawing showing location and extent of the activity
  • any other information the General Manager may reasonably require
  • payment of any applicable fee.
