Commercial Filming and Photography Licence - Tasmania


You will need this licence if you intend to undertake filming or photography for the purposes of sale or other consideration in areas managed by the agency. This includes:

  • commercial filming (including advertisements)
  • feature filming (cinema, video and TV)
  • documentaries and tourism promotions
  • educational and government sponsored filming
  • social media content creators
  • stills photography for advertising purposes
  • filming with drones.

The following projects do not attract a fee, however they are still required to complete an application to obtain a filming and photography fee exemption:

  • educational or tourism productions deemed to be beneficial
  • federal or state government tourism department sponsored filming
  • news and current affairs.

Eligibility requirements

You must hold and provide evidence of a current public liability insurance policy with a minimum coverage of $20 million to be eligible for a licence.
