Consent to Hinder the Free Passage of Fish - Tasmania


You will need this consent if you intend to impact on the free passage of fish in inland waterways.

This includes:

  • placing or using any equipment, instrument or device likely to hinder or obstruct fish
  • injure a fish-pass
  • impair the efficiency of a fish-pass
  • cut through or destroy a dam, floodgate or sluice with the intention of destroying or taking fish.

A fish-pass is an artificial structure that is built with the intention of providing fish with a means of access to parts of a waterway that may be obstructed (such as by a man-made dam).
