You will need this licence if you intend to drive a road vehicle that is carrying quantities of dangerous goods that:
- exceed 500 litres or kilograms in a container
- exceed 3000 litres in a single Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC)
- are a risk category 3 load for Class 1 goods (explosives).
Dangerous goods are defined in the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail (ADG Code). Dangerous goods include flammable liquids and solids, substances liable to spontaneous combustion, and toxic substances.
The vehicle you intend to drive must be licensed to carry dangerous goods.
