Dealer Registration Scheme - Vehicle Registration - Tasmania

Description

This scheme enables authorised new car dealers to issue registration certificate and plates. Each registered dealer can nominate up to three employees as representatives. Nominated representatives are able to issue registration certificates and plates on behalf of the dealer.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to operate under this scheme you must:

  • hold a Tasmanian exemption certificate issued under the Duties Act 2001
  • be a member of the Motor Trades Association
  • sell new vehicles and hold a current franchise agreement for Tasmania with a vehicle manufacturer recognised by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles
  • have a trading address in Tasmania.
  • have a dealership that operates and trades from premises in Tasmania.
  • as a dealer principle be approved to register vehicles (this is delegated from the Registrar of Motor Vehicles).
