Deer Farming Notification - Tasmania


You will need to notify the Agency if you intend to operate a fallow deer farm. Your proposed deer farm must be fully enclosed by an Agency approved fence.

This notification will allow the Agency to consider the threat to natural, social and economic values of the area around the proposed farm.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Once the Agency is notified, your deer farm will be approved if:

  • your proposed site does not have a significant impact on the area
  • the fencing around the deer farm meets the Agency's approval.
