Demolition Work Approval - King Island Council - Tasmania

Description

You will require approval if you intend to undertake demolition work. You will need to apply for different approvals depending on the category of risk that is relevant to your demolition work. There are three categories of risk: low risk work, medium risk work (notifiable work) and high risk work (permit work).

  • Garages or sheds are classified as low risk work. You do not need a permit or approval for performing low risk demolition work, but you may require planning approval.
  • Detached dwellings are classified as medium risk work (notifiable work). You will need to make an application (Notice of Work) made to a building surveyor for a Certificate of Likely Compliance.
  • High risk work (permit work) involves multi-story commercial buildings. For high risk work, you will need to submit an application to council for a Demolition Permit.
