Electrical Contractor Licence - Tasmania


You will need this licence if you intend to enter into contracts to carry out electrical work. Electrical work includes, but is not limited to, installation, repair, alteration or removal of an electrical infrastructure, electrical circuit or associated fittings, equipment or accessories.

A contractor must nominate a practitioner licence holder (who has completed additional qualifications) to be a Nominated Manager, who must manage and supervise the prescribed work undertaken by the business.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be a fit and proper person
  • possess the required qualifications and competencies
  • have a sound and stable financial background
  • have a nominated manager
  • possess adequate insurance coverage (at least $5 million for any one occurrence).
