Electrical Contractor Licence - Tasmania


You will require this licence if you intend to enter into contracts for electrical work. Electrical work includes (but is not limited to):

  • installation, repair, alteration, or removal of an electrical infrastructure, electrical circuit or associated fittings, equipment or accessories
  • work that is regarded as specialist electrical work.

Please note that you will need to appoint a nominated manager, who must currently hold a licence as an electrical practitioner. A nominated manager is responsible for ensuring that technical requirements are met by providing the correct skills and resources to carry out the work safely and to appropriate standards.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be an individual or a business
  • be a fit and proper person
  • have public liability insurance (minimum $5 million)
  • have paid the prescribed licence fee.
