Environmental Licence to Operate a Finfish Farm - Tasmania

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to conduct a finfish farming activity in Tasmania which:

  • produces five tonnes or more per year of finfish
  • contains, or is intended to contain finfish with a biomass of two tonnes or more.

If your local council requires a permit application for this activity under the Land Use Planning and Approval Act (1993) then you may not be required to apply for this licence directly as your council will refer the application to the Board of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). Accordingly the Board will undertake an environmental assessment and then grant or refuse to grant an environmental licence.

In addition to this licence you will also require a Fish Farm Licence.
