You will need this accreditation if you intend to provide services and advice as a Forest Practices Officer (FPO).
The functions of FPOs are to:
- ensure that forest practices are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Act, the Code and any certified Forest Practices Plan
- ensure that private timber reserves are being used for establishing forests, or growing or harvesting timber
- perform any functions determined by the Forest Practices Authority according to the Instrument of Appointment
- follow any instructions issued by the Chief Forest Practices Officer (this is generally included on the Instrument of Appointment).
There are two types of FPO appointment:
FPOs are expected to undertake their FPO duties at the same time as they are undertaking their normal duties for their employer or client.
