Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate as a general auctioneer.

This licence applies to those intending to auction goods or chattels other than real estate (e.g. cars, art work and other general goods). If you intend to auction real estate, you must hold a real estate agent's licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • satisfy the Board, by examination or inquiry, that you have sufficient knowledge and experience of general auctioneering business to be able to carry on a business under this licence or have completed certain compulsory units set by the Board
  • have the prescribed educational qualifications
  • be considered by the Board to be a fit and proper person of good reputation, both generally and financially
  • be prepared to undergo continuing education as specified by the Board.

The Board may request further evidence to satisfy them that you are qualified to be licensed or are a fit and proper person to be a General Auctioneer.
