You will need authorisation if you intend to collect and keep Tasmanian native reptiles and amphibians. This will permit you to collect or keep a maximum of six adult specimens of allowed species.
Allowed species include particular reptiles and amphibians specified by the Agency. For example, these species include:
- southern snow skinks
- copperhead snakes
- Tasmanian tree frogs.

- Special Purposes Wildlife Permit for Herpetofauna - authorises the collection and keeping of allowed species
- Keep and Display Herpetofauna for a Business - authorises a business to keep and display Tasmanian herpetofauna for the purpose of educational display
- Herpetofauna Educational Facility Permit - authorises an organisation to keep and display allowed species for the purpose of educational or scientific display.
