Description

You will need this licence if you intend to deal with a laser or intense pulse light (IPL) for cosmetic purposes. Lasers and IPL are used for a range of cosmetic purposes including removing hair, tattoos, birthmarks or scarring.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • satisfy the agency that you can use radiation apparatus equipment, and that you understand and will comply with the relevant legislation
  • supply the names of all users of a licensed apparatus.

There are also Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR) and mutual recognition pathways available if you have an existing equivalent interstate licence or, only in the case of mutual recognition, a New Zealand licence. Please see the agency website for more information.
