Limited Authority to Teach - Tasmania

Description

Schools may apply for a limited authority to teach (LAT) as a temporary measure to fill a skill / experience gap and no suitable registered teacher cannot be found. A LAT enables schools to employ a person who is not a qualified and registered teacher to be employed to teach.

The person nominated for the LAT must:

  • be of good character
  • be ineligible for teacher registration
  • be registered to work with vulnerable people
  • have the appropriate skills / experience that an available teacher does not have.
