Managing the Risks of Plant in the Workplace Code of Practice - Tasmania


You may be required to comply with this code if you intend to conduct a business or undertaking involving the management or control of plant, or the installation and commissioning of plant.

Plant includes any machinery, equipment, appliance, container, implement or tool, or any component or other item fitted or connected to any of those items. Plant may include items such as:

  • cranes
  • computers
  • machinery
  • conveyors
  • forklifts
  • vehicles
  • power tools
  • amusement devices.

Plant that relies exclusively on manual power for its operation and is designed to be primarily supported by hand (screw drivers, for example) is not covered by this code.
