You will need this licence if you intend to operate a fish hatchery or breed, culture or farm fish on land if State waters are used as a growing medium or if the waters in which the fish are normally kept have characteristics similar to any State waters.
State waters include:
- any waters within the territorial sea of Australia
- any marine or tidal waters adjacent to Tasmania (except inland waters)
- any land which is swept by State waters to the highest landward extent
- waters that relate to a marine farming lease.
