Motor Dealer's Exemption Certificate (Duty) - Tasmania

Description

You may apply for this exemption if you operate as a motor vehicle dealer or trader and want to be exempt from paying duty on the registration and transfer of registration of trading stock and demonstrator vehicles.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this exemption you must:

  • be a motor dealer and not a licensed motor vehicle trader
  • satisfy the Agency that you are not prohibited from carrying on business as a second-hand dealer
  • have the relevant approval notice from your local council for use of your premises as a second-hand dealership
  • ensure that the business will operate continually and not act on behalf of someone that is ineligible to hold an exemption certificate.
