Permit for Activities Within a Weed Protected Area - Tasmania

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to undertake certain activities within an area that has been declared as protected by the agency. An area may be declared to be protected if it is considered necessary to prevent the introduction into that area of any declared weeds.

Declared weeds are those determined by the agency to have potentially significant adverse impacts on Tasmania's productive capacity, natural or physical resources, genetic diversity or ecological processes. A list of declared weeds can be found on the agency website.

Activities requiring approval in a declared area include:

  • the movement into a protected area of any plant, declared weed, goods, livestock, material or vehicles
  • undertaking any activity in a protected area that is restricted or prohibited by the agency.
