Permit to Conduct an Activity at Salamanca Market - Tasmania

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to:

  • sell food or other goods at Salamanca Market (please see special requirements regarding selling of food)
  • undertake busking at Salamanca Market
  • conduct or take part in a meeting, gathering or event at Salamanca Market (except in the area known as Speakers Corner)
  • park within the Salamanca Market zone between the hours of 5.30 am and 6.00 pm on market days.

There are two types of stallholders at Salamanca market: licensed and casual.

Applications for casual stall holders are invited once a year via an expression of interest. Successful applicants will then be eligible to book a site via phone on a weekly basis.

Licensed stallholders are permitted to trade at the market, as well as transfer their licence if selling their business. The transfer of stall licences is authorised by Council subject to the approval of the intended new product lines.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must provide an application in writing and also:

  • a statement specifying the type of activity proposed
  • a scaled drawing showing location and extent of the activity
  • any other information the General Manager may reasonably require.

Please note that if you intend to sell food at the market you must abide by the food legislation requirements and standards. You have a legal responsibility to ensure the food you sell is safe and labelled correctly.
