Permit to Keep General Livestock - Glenorchy City Council - Tasmania

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to keep general livestock in a residential zone. General livestock includes, but is not limited to horses, cattle, poultry, sheep, pigs, goats, deer, llamas, alpacas etc.

Animals must be effectively fenced and there are limits to the maximum allowable area of land on which the livestock is to be kept.

Eligibility requirements

You will be required to:

  • specify the place the animal(s) will be kept
  • specify the manner (including any enclosure) the animal(s) will be kept
  • supply any other information required by Council
  • if required, supply a block plan of the property (including measurements) showing the portion of property the animal(s) will be kept.

Application process

Lodge

You will be required to advertise in the daily newspaper that you have applied for the licence. The advertisement is to specify your name, the location of your premises, the number and type of animals, and be in a form approved by Council.

Approval time

21 days following publication of the advertisement in the daily newspaper.
