Permit to Light a Fire - Tasmania

You will require this permit if you intend to light a fire during a fire permit period. A fire permit will be granted to light a fire in a fire protected area or for the purpose of clearing vegetation or like purpose. A fire protected area includes any part of a State forest, any reserved land or any Crown Land.

This permit is not needed for a fire lit in a place specifically designed for that purpose (for example, an outdoor fireplace).

This permit is granted by a fire permit officer, who is appointed by the State Fire Management Council.
