Planning Permit - Dorset Council - Tasmania

Description

You may need a planning permit if you intend to:

  • use land or buildings for a different purpose than currently permitted under the local Council planning scheme (for example, residential, commercial, industrial, or agricultural)
  • add new uses or buildings to an existing site
  • expand or intensify a non-conforming or discretionary use
  • develop land

Developing land includes activities such as:

  • constructing, altering, or carrying out works (including earthworks, buildings, parking areas, or structural changes)
  • demolishing or removing buildings or works
  • subdividing or consolidating land
  • placing or relocating buildings or structures
  • installing signs, hoardings, or fences

The planning permit process assesses land use and development proposals against local and State planning requirements, focusing on their impact on the site and surrounding land.
