Plumbing Contractor Licence - Tasmania


You will need this licence if you intend to enter into contracts to provide gas-fitting work to the public, business or government. Plumbing work includes installing, altering, maintaining or disconnecting a plumbing installation such as refrigeration, sanitary plumbing and drainage, stormwater drainage, water services, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, hydraulic, liquid fuel, medical gas or pneumatic.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be a fit and proper person
  • have a strong and stable financial background
  • have the relevant qualifications and competencies
  • hold an adequate insurance coverage (at least $5 million for any one occurrence)
  • nominate a gas-fitting practitioner licence holder (who has completed the relevant training course) to be a nominated manager.
