Prescribed Animal Farming Registration - Tasmania

Description

You will need this registration if you intend to farm prescribed animals. At present the only prescribed animals are emus. Farming includes the:

  • sale or other disposal of the animal while it is alive
  • slaughtering and sale or other disposal of the slaughtered animal
  • harvesting of the animal or the products of the animal and the sale or other disposal of the harvested animal or products.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for registration you must:

  • be a fit and proper person
  • ensure your area / premises is suitable for farming emus.

Up to five years unless surrendered or cancelled
