Private Non-Emergency Patient Transport Licence - Tasmania


You will need this licence if you intend to provide non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) services. Non-emergency patient transport services relate solely to transporting patients:

  • needing basic care and observation or clinical care and monitoring
  • whose medical needs have been assessed by a member of an approved health profession as not being time-critical or acute.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be a fit and proper person
  • be able to demonstrate the suitability of any equipment and vehicles intended to provide NEPT services
  • be able to demonstrate that the intended operating arrangements for the staff of the service comply with legislation.
