PS04 Statement on the Post-anaesthesia Care Unit - Tasmania

Description

You will need to comply with this statement if you intend to provide a post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU) at a private hospital or day-procedure centre. A PACU, or recovery unit, is an area of a private hospital or day-procedure centre that allows for the care and / or observation of post-anaesthesia patients.

The purpose of this statement is to:

  • assist healthcare facilities to provide PACUs that are designed, equipped, and staffed to deliver safe patient care
  • inform clinicians of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists' expectations for PACUs.
