Registration as a Cat Breeder - Tasmania

Description

You will need this registration if you intend to breed cats. This registration will exempt you from the requirement to de-sex cats where the cat is part of your commercial business.

Registered cat breeders must ensure that all cats intended for sale:

  • are not less than 8 weeks old
  • have an approved microchip implant
  • are de-sexed
  • have had a veterinary check and are wormed and vaccinated.

If you are a member of an approved cat organisation you will be taken to be a registered breeder, and you will not need to apply for registration. It is an offence under the Act to breed cats unless you are a registered breeder.
