Registration of Prescribed Animal Farmers - Tasmania


You will need this registration if you intend to farm prescribed animals. At present, emus are the only prescribed animals listed in the regulations.

Activities that are regulated include breeding and rearing animals at farms and other breeding establishments, operating animal shelters and keeping, exhibiting and transporting the animals.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for registration you must be a fit and proper person.

You may need to demonstrate that the area and premises at which you propose to farm prescribed animals is suitable.
