To be eligible for the individual licence, you must:
- be at least 18 years old
- be a fit and proper person
- not be a bankrupt
- have set up a trust account for the deposit of money received from your clients (commercial agents only)
- have the relevant training (these will depend on the category of licence you are applying for).
To be eligible for the body corporate licence, each of your directors must meet the requirements listed above. A body corporate needs to:
- appoint a nominated manager who holds a Tasmanian Agent - Individual licence with the equivalent licensed activities that the company needs
- ensure each company manager or director undertaking licensed activities meets the criteria. This does not mean each company director should be a licensed person, however each person listed as a director will be assessed as if they are applying for a licence.
If you hold a current equivalent licence in another state or territory you may be eligible to apply for this licence under mutual recognition arrangements.
