You will need this licence if you intend to be employed in the security industry by a security agent. You will also need to apply to add the specific licence activities that are part of your employment to your security employee licence.
The categories of licence activities that may be added to your security employee licence are as follows:
- crowd controller - undertaking crowd control activities including screening entry into premises, monitoring and controlling behaviour of people within premises or removing persons from premises
- security guarding general - undertaking security guard activities including patrolling, protecting, watching and guarding property, screening persons leaving property, acting as a bodyguard and providing related training
- commercial employee - undertaking debt collection activities including ascertaining the whereabouts of, or repossessing goods and chattels that are security interests, collecting and requesting payment of debts, executing legal process for enforcements of judgements and court orders and levying distress
- inquiry agents - finding information about other people in relation to their personal character, occupation, collecting evidence and when searching for missing persons.
Licence holders may also apply for additional endorsement to use a guard dog, carry a firearm, baton, or handcuffs.
