Security Agent Licence - Tasmania

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to run a business providing security or investigation services. This licence allows you to employ or engage people to provide security services, as well as provide those services yourself without being employed by an agent. Security and investigation services include those of:

  • crowd controllers
  • security guards
  • commercial agents
  • inquiry agents.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the individual licence you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be a fit and proper person
  • not be a bankrupt
  • have set up a trust account for the deposit of money received from your clients (commercial agents only)
  • have the relevant training (these will depend on the category of licence you are applying for).

To be eligible for the body corporate licence, each of your company directors must meet the requirements listed above.

If you hold a current equivalent licence in another state or territory you may be eligible to apply for this licence under mutual recognition arrangements.
